Extraction
Mining at Sepon is undertaken in a series of open pits using conventional drill, blast, load and haul methods that utilise moderate-sized equipment provided by the principal mining contractor.
The supply of copper ore to the process is based on mining the high-grade Khanong ore body, which will be further supplemented by expansion into the western areas surrounding the ore body and into the Thengkham and Phabing deposits.
The development works are carried out by three minor construction contractors, including civil construction, environmental controls and expansion works.
Gold mining is focused mainly on the Houay Yeng pit, which is supplemented by various smaller gold pits including extensions to previous deposits such as Namkok and Discovery.
